Updated 7 September 2026

Sweet, sticky dates wrapped in salty bacon are the ultimate sweet-savoury party bite, and the air fryer crisps the bacon while the date centres turn jammy. Stuff them with cheese for an even more decadent nibble.

Ingredients

  • 16 Medjool dates, pitted
  • 8 rashers streaky bacon, halved
  • 80 g goats cheese or blue cheese (optional)
  • 16 whole almonds (optional)
  • Black pepper
  • Cocktail sticks

Method

  1. 1If stuffing, tuck a little cheese or an almond into each pitted date.
  2. 2Wrap each date in half a rasher of bacon and secure with a cocktail stick.
  3. 3Preheat the air fryer to 190°C/375°F.
  4. 4Arrange the dates in a single layer, seam-side down.
  5. 5Cook 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway, until the bacon is crisp.
  6. 6Ensure the bacon is cooked through, then rest briefly and serve warm.

Tips for the best results

  • Do not overcrowd or the bacon will steam instead of crisping.
  • Let them cool for a minute as the date centres get very hot.
