Updated 7 September 2026
Crispy-shelled beef tacos come out perfectly in the air fryer, with a shatteringly crunchy shell and gooey melted cheese. Filling and folding the tortillas before crisping means every bite holds together, no messy spills or soggy bottoms.
Ingredients
- 500 g minced beef
- 1 tbsp taco seasoning
- 8 small corn tortillas
- 150 g grated cheddar
- 1 tbsp oil
- ½ tsp salt
- Shredded lettuce and salsa, to serve
Method
- 1Brown the mince with the taco seasoning, oil and salt in a pan until cooked and crumbly.
- 2Warm the tortillas briefly so they fold without cracking.
- 3Fill each with beef and cheese, then fold into taco shapes.
- 4Preheat the air fryer to 190°C (375°F) for 3 minutes.
- 5Stand the tacos upright in the basket and cook for 8-11 minutes until crisp and golden.
- 6Fill with lettuce and salsa once cool enough to handle.
Tips for the best results
- Standing the tacos on their folded edge keeps the filling in and crisps both sides evenly.
- A cocktail stick through the top holds the shell shut if they spring open.
