Hearty chickpea patties spiced with cumin and garlic, crisp outside and tender within. The air fryer firms them up without the fragile flip-and-fall of pan frying, giving reliable veggie burgers every single time.

- 1 small onion, grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 tbsp breadcrumbs
- 1 tbsp flour
- 1 tsp ground cumin

- 2 tbsp chopped parsley
- Spray oil
Method
- 1Mash the chickpeas coarsely, leaving some texture.
- 2Mix in onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, flour, spices and parsley until it holds together.
- 3Shape into four firm patties and chill for 10 minutes.
- 4Preheat the air fryer to 190°C (375°F).
- 5Mist with oil and air fry for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and firm.
- 6Serve in buns with your favourite toppings.
Tips for the best results
- Chilling the patties helps them keep their shape while cooking.
- Add extra breadcrumbs if the mix feels too wet to shape.
- Squeeze the grated onion dry to avoid soggy patties.
