Updated 7 September 2026
Juicy prawns bathed in garlicky melted butter and a squeeze of lemon, ready in under ten minutes. The air fryer keeps them plump and tender while the edges catch just enough colour, so there is no rubbery overcooking.
Ingredients
- 500 g large raw prawns, peeled and deveined
- 40 g butter, melted
- 3 garlic cloves, finely grated
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/4 tsp chilli flakes
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
- Salt and black pepper
Method
- 1Preheat the air fryer to 200°C/400°F for 3 minutes.
- 2Pat the prawns dry and toss with the melted butter, garlic, olive oil, paprika, chilli flakes, salt and pepper.
- 3Arrange in a single layer in the basket, avoiding overlap.
- 4Air fry for 6-8 minutes, tossing halfway, until the prawns are pink, opaque and curled.
- 5Tip into a warm bowl and pour over any buttery juices.
- 6Finish with lemon juice and parsley, then serve at once.
Tips for the best results
- Do not overcrowd the basket or the prawns will steam rather than sear.
- Fresh prawns cook fast, so check at 6 minutes to avoid toughness.
