Air Fryer Meatball Sub

Saucy meatballs tucked into a sub roll under a blanket of melting mozzarella, toasted until the bread is crisp and the cheese is golden. The air fryer makes a proper deli-style sub at home in minutes.

Ingredients

  • 2 sub rolls
  • 8 cooked beef meatballs
  • 200 g marinara sauce
  • 100 g mozzarella, grated
  • 2 tbsp grated parmesan
  • 1 tbsp butter, softened
  • 1 tsp garlic granules

Method

  1. 1Warm the meatballs through in the marinara sauce.
  2. 2Preheat the air fryer to 180°C/360°F.
  3. 3Split the rolls, spread with butter and garlic granules, then toast for 2 minutes.
  4. 4Fill each roll with saucy meatballs and top with mozzarella and parmesan.
  5. 5Air fry for 4-6 minutes until the cheese melts and bubbles.
  6. 6Check the meatballs are piping hot at 74°C/165°F before serving.

Tips for the best results

  • Wrap the roll ends in foil if they brown too quickly.
  • Fresh mozzarella slices give an extra-gooey pull.
