Light, hollow choux buns filled with cream and drizzled with chocolate, the classic French dessert made in the air fryer. The steady heat puffs the pastry into crisp, airy shells ready for a decadent filling.
Ingredients
- 60 g (1/4 cup) butter
- 150 ml (2/3 cup) water
- 75 g (2/3 cup) plain flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 300 ml (1 1/4 cups) whipped double cream
- 100 g (3.5 oz) dark chocolate, melted, to drizzle
Method
- 1Heat the butter and water until boiling, then beat in the flour off the heat to a smooth paste.
- 2Cool slightly, then gradually beat in the eggs until glossy and pipeable.
- 3Pipe small mounds onto lined parchment in the basket.
- 4Preheat the air fryer to 180°C/360°F, then bake for 18-22 minutes until puffed, golden and firm.
- 5Pierce each bun to release steam and cool completely.
- 6Fill with whipped cream and drizzle with melted chocolate.
Tips for the best results
- Do not open the air fryer early or the buns may collapse.
- Piercing the buns keeps the insides from going soggy.
