Salisbury steak is a diner favourite of seasoned beef patties in a savoury mushroom gravy. The air fryer browns the patties beautifully and keeps them juicy, giving you a nostalgic, hearty dinner with far less fuss than the stovetop.
Ingredients
- 600 g minced beef
- 1 egg
- 4 tbsp breadcrumbs
- 1 tbsp tomato ketchup
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
Method
- 1Combine the beef, egg, breadcrumbs, ketchup, mustard and seasonings.
- 2Form into four oval patties and press a shallow dimple into each.
- 3Preheat the air fryer to 190°C (375°F) for 3 minutes.
- 4Cook for 12-16 minutes, flipping halfway, until the centre reaches 71°C (160°F).
- 5Meanwhile simmer sliced mushrooms in beef stock and a little flour for the gravy.
- 6Spoon the mushroom gravy over the patties to serve.
Tips for the best results
- The ketchup and mustard add tang and moisture that keep the patties tender.
- Make the gravy while the patties cook so everything is ready at the same time.
