Chewy, protein-rich seitan pieces marinated and air fried until crisp-edged and golden. The air fryer gives this wheat-gluten meat substitute a satisfyingly firm, browned crust that soaks up glaze, perfect for stir-fries and bowls.
Ingredients
- 300g seitan, torn into chunks
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp cornflour
- 1 spring onion, sliced
Method
- 1Toss the seitan chunks with soy, oil, maple, paprika and garlic.
- 2Sprinkle over the cornflour and toss again to coat.
- 3Preheat the air fryer to 190°C (375°F).
- 4Air fry for 12-16 minutes, tossing halfway, until crisp and browned.
- 5Check the edges are golden and firm.
- 6Scatter with spring onion and serve over rice or noodles.
