Air Fryer Swedish Meatballs

Tender, nutmeg-scented Swedish meatballs cook evenly in the air fryer, ready to bathe in a creamy gravy. The gentle spicing and soft texture are pure comfort food, delicious over buttered noodles or mashed potato with lingonberry on the side.
Ingredients
- 400 g minced beef
- 200 g minced pork
- 1 egg
- 4 tbsp breadcrumbs
- 3 tbsp milk
- ½ tsp ground nutmeg
- ½ tsp ground allspice
- 1 tsp salt
Method
- 1Soak the breadcrumbs in the milk for a few minutes, then mix with the meats, egg and spices.
- 2Roll into small, even meatballs about 3 cm across.
- 3Preheat the air fryer to 190°C (375°F) for 3 minutes.
- 4Cook the meatballs for 10-14 minutes, shaking the basket every 8 minutes, to 71°C (160°F).
- 5Meanwhile whisk a simple gravy of beef stock, cream and a little flour.
- 6Toss the meatballs through the warm gravy and serve.
Tips for the best results
- Soaking the breadcrumbs in milk keeps these meatballs especially soft and tender.
- Wet your hands when rolling to stop the mixture sticking and to get smooth, even balls.
