- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tsp liquid smoke
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
Method
- 1Slice the tempeh as thinly as you can into bacon-style strips.
- 2Whisk the marinade and coat the strips, leaving them 10 minutes.
- 3Preheat the air fryer to 180°C (360°F).
- 4Lay the strips in a single layer and air fry for 8-11 minutes, flipping halfway.
- 5Brush with a little more marinade near the end for extra glaze.
- 6Cool briefly to crisp up before serving.
Tips for the best results
- The strips crisp further as they cool, so do not overcook.
- Liquid smoke is what gives that authentic bacon aroma.
- Layer without overlapping so every strip crisps.
