Ready in about 35 minutes.

Updated 7 September 2026

Spiral-cut tornado potatoes on skewers, crisp and seasoned, just like the Korean street-food stalls. The air fryer crisps every ridge golden so each twist crunches without deep-frying.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium potatoes
  • 4 long wooden skewers
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Grated Parmesan to finish

Method

  1. 1Push a skewer through the centre of each potato lengthways.
  2. 2Hold a sharp knife at an angle and slice in a continuous spiral while rotating the potato, then gently fan the slices apart.
  3. 3Brush with oil and season with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder and salt.
  4. 4Preheat the air fryer to 190°C/375°F and lay the skewers across the basket.
  5. 5Cook for 18-22 minutes, flipping halfway, until crisp and golden.
  6. 6Dust with Parmesan and serve hot.

Tips for the best results

  • Fan the spiral slices apart so hot air crisps every surface.
  • Choose long, evenly shaped potatoes for the neatest tornado.
