Updated 7 September 2026

Plant-based mince rolled into seasoned meatballs and air fried until browned and juicy. The air fryer gives them a crisp exterior without a pan of oil, so they come out evenly cooked and ready for pasta or subs in minutes.

Ingredients

  • 400g plant-based mince
  • 4 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 onion, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper
  • Spray oil

Method

  1. 1Mix the plant mince with breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, tomato paste and seasonings.
  2. 2Roll into evenly sized balls.
  3. 3Preheat the air fryer to 190°C (375°F).
  4. 4Mist with oil and air fry for 10-14 minutes, tossing halfway, until browned.
  5. 5Check they are firm and heated through.
  6. 6Toss in warm marinara and serve.

Tips for the best results

  • Grate the onion so it disappears into the mix and adds moisture.
  • Keep the balls uniform for even cooking.
  • Do not overcrowd the basket so they brown all over.
