How the cooking data on this site is produced, reviewed and corrected - and what we do not claim.

Last updated

This page exists because a site full of cooking times should be willing to say where those numbers came from. If anything below is unclear, or you think a figure is wrong, please tell us.

How a page is built

This site is not a collection of individually hand-written blog posts. Every food has a structured entry in our cooking database - temperature in Celsius and Fahrenheit, a time range, whether to shake or flip, oil and preheat guidance, and a safe internal temperature where one applies. The reader-facing page is then produced from that reviewed entry.

That is a deliberate trade-off. It means times and temperatures are consistent across the whole site and can be corrected in one place. It also means pages within a section read similarly. We think consistency of the numbers matters more than variety of the prose, but we would rather you heard that from us than worked it out yourself.

Food safety figures

Safe internal temperatures are the one thing on this site we do not treat as adjustable. They follow published guidance from the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service and the UK Food Standards Agency. Where the two differ we state the stricter figure.

Cooking times are guides; internal temperature is the actual test. Use a probe thermometer for chicken, pork, beef, fish and anything reheated. If a time on this site conflicts with your thermometer, trust the thermometer.

What our times assume

  • A preheated air fryer, unless the page says preheating is optional.
  • Food in a single, even layer with room for air to circulate.
  • A basket-style domestic air fryer of roughly 1400-1700 W.
  • Fresh food at fridge temperature, or frozen food straight from the freezer on our frozen pages.

Oven-style and dual-drawer models, and machines outside that wattage range, will run faster or slower. Our basket vs oven-style guide covers the difference.

Images

Photographs on this site are AI-generated illustrations of the finished dish. They show what a good result looks like; they are not photographs of the specific batch a page describes, and we do not present them as evidence of testing.

Independence and money

We do not take payment to feature, rank or recommend a particular air fryer brand or model, and no brand has editorial input. Where the site carries advertising or affiliate links in future, they will be labelled and they will not change the cooking data.

Corrections and updates

Every page carries a last-updated date reflecting when its content actually changed, not a date refreshed automatically to look current. When we correct a cooking time or a safety figure we change the data entry, which updates every page drawing on it.

Reader reports are the main way errors surface. If a page did not work in your kitchen, the contact form reaches us directly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do your air fryer times and temperatures come from?+

Each food has a reviewed entry in our cooking database holding its temperature, time range, whether to shake or flip, and its safe internal temperature. Safe internal temperatures follow USDA and UK Food Standards Agency guidance. Times are cross-checked against manufacturer manuals and adjusted from cooking feedback.

Is the text on your pages written by a person or generated?+

Both. The cooking data on every page is set and reviewed by our editorial team. The surrounding explanatory text is generated from that reviewed data by our own templates, which is why pages in the same section read consistently. No page is published from an unreviewed data entry.

Do you use AI images?+

Yes, and we say so. Photographs on the site are AI-generated illustrations of the finished dish, not photographs of the specific batch described. They are there to show what to aim for, not to prove we cooked it.

How do I report a time or temperature that is wrong?+

Use the contact form and include the page URL, your air fryer model and wattage, and what actually happened. Reported problems are the main trigger for us re-checking a page.
