Air Fryer Corn Dogs

Hot dogs coated in a sweet cornmeal batter, air fried to a crunchy golden shell without a vat of oil. A fairground favourite made lighter and mess-free for the whole family.
Ingredients
- 4 hot dog sausages
- 4 wooden skewers
- 75 g plain flour
- 75 g cornmeal
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 150 ml milk
- 1 egg
- Cooking spray
Method
- 1Pat the hot dogs dry and push a skewer into each.
- 2Whisk together the flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, milk and egg into a thick batter in a tall glass.
- 3Dip each hot dog to coat fully, letting the excess drip off.
- 4Preheat the air fryer to 190°C/375°F and line with perforated paper.
- 5Spray the corn dogs and air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and set.
- 6Ensure they are heated through to 74°C/165°F, then serve with mustard and ketchup.
Tips for the best results
- A tall glass makes coating the whole hot dog easy.
- Chill the battered dogs for 10 minutes to help the coating cling.
