Air Fryer Bang Bang Shrimp

Crispy coated prawns tossed in a creamy, sweet-and-spicy bang bang sauce. The air fryer crisps the coating with barely any oil, giving you that takeaway crunch without the deep-fat fryer.

Ingredients

  • 500 g large raw prawns, peeled and deveined
  • 60 g cornflour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 80 g panko breadcrumbs
  • 4 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp sweet chilli sauce
  • 1 tbsp sriracha
  • 1 tsp honey
  • Salt and black pepper
  • Spring onions, to garnish

Method

  1. 1Preheat the air fryer to 200°C/400°F for 3 minutes.
  2. 2Pat the prawns dry, then coat in cornflour, dip in beaten egg and press into the panko.
  3. 3Mist with oil spray and arrange in a single layer.
  4. 4Air fry for 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway, until golden and crisp.
  5. 5Whisk the mayonnaise, sweet chilli, sriracha and honey into a smooth sauce.
  6. 6Toss the hot prawns in the sauce and scatter with spring onions.

  • Sauce the prawns just before serving so they stay crisp.
  • Adjust the sriracha up or down to suit your heat tolerance.
